We have produced many TV commercials here at BLARE, using a big variety of strategies, and gear. Here, we will be talking about the commercials shot using our famous RED Epic cameras.
What are RED Epic cameras?
RED Epic cameras are high-performance digital cinema cameras developed by RED Digital Cinema, known for their exceptional image quality and versatility. These cameras are capable of capturing footage in up to 6K resolution, offering incredible detail, dynamic range, and color depth, making them a popular choice for professional filmmakers and high-end video productions.

Commercials shot using the RED Epic camera
The first was for Fogg, Maxwell, Lanier and Remington EyeCare in Fresno, CA. The spot features Sportscaster Dana Greene interviewing Fresno State Bulldogs Director of Football Operations, Mike McHugh.
McHugh opened up about the difference the LASIK procedure made in his life and how Bulldog fans could see their team better. Although we filmed in the hot summer heat at Bulldog Stadium, we had a lot of fun shooting this piece.
We also had the opportunity to film a series of commercials regarding clinical trials for uterine fibroids. This project required a lot of preproduction work and logistics due to the fact that we needed to build sets, orchestrate traffic, rent a city bus and shoot said bus on a really big green cyc wall. We’re really proud of the work we put into these spots and believe we succeeded in meeting the client’s needs.
Last but not least, we were able to work with our friends at Own A Car Fresno again in a spot we call “Hyperlapse.” We utilized time lapse techniques coupled with advanced motion control movement via our Kessler Slider system. We used our Epic camera with a proprietary HDR process to be able to increase micro contrast to levels we’ve never been able to reach before.
We’re not only proud of our work, but we’re excited about what we’ll create next and how we’ll continue to improve.
